| January 29, 2013 | 0 Comments

“How can I prevent my low back pain?”, this is the question I get asked many times a day in my practice. Although injuries are a part of everyday life and work, there are a number of ways to prevent low back pain. The American Chiropractic Association has a list of tips that are very helpful that I am going to pass on to you.

  • Maintain a healthy diet and weight.
  • Remain active. (Under the supervision of your  doctor.)
  • Avoid prolonged bed rest or inactivity.
  • Warm up or stretch before exercising or other physical activity.
  • Maintain proper posture.
  • Wear comfortable low-heeled shoes.
  • Sleep on a mattress of medium firmness to minimize curves in your spine.
  • Lift with your knees, keep the object close to your body, and do not twist when lifting.
  • Ensure that your workstation is ergonomically correct.

Hopefully, these few tips will help you avoid unnecessary low back pain and prevent injury.
